Tomorrow is a consideration on the future of Man on this planet. A tapestry that depicts the remains of an extreme climate event, such as the ones we are getting accustomed to. Victims of their own recklessness, human presences helplessly observe the aftermath. They don’t realize they are not just mere spectators, but ever more protagonists of what is taking place around them.
Tomorrow invites us to take control of our future. To be conscious of these ever-undeniable changes and of our responsibilities. For this reason the author has imagined a tapestry that can be gazed at, but also touched. An experienced to be lived through the eyes, but also with the tip of the fingers. An invite to get involved with the work, and not just be spectators of changes affecting everybody.
The design of this tapestry is inspired by the images taken by Giovanni Hänninen for Arte Sella to document the aftermath of the Vaia storm, that in 2018 destroyed tens of thousand of hectares of Alpine conifer forests in the North-East of Italy. Other than at Arte Sella, Giovanni Hänninen’s photographic project was exhibited at XVII Biennale di Architettura di Venezia in 2021.
The tapestry, measuring at 145 x 165cm, is dedicated by Giovanni to his mother, Jenny Hänninen, who is a former textile designer that worked for Torri Lana for more than 30 years.
Creative connections with the international designers involved are at the heart of the collection. The intense dialogue with the great architects who have made the history of Italian design has always been a distinguishing feature of Torri Lana, and today with Arazzi Connections its potential is explored in a new way, through the decorative textile object par excellence: the tapestry.

Tomorrow è una riflessione sul futuro dell’Uomo su questo pianeta. Un arazzo che ritrae i resti di un evento climatico estremo, come quelli a cui ci stiamo abituando. Vittime della propria incoscienza, le presenze umane osservano l’accaduto impotenti. Non si rendono conto di non essere più semplici spettatori, ma sempre più protagonisti di quanto accade loro intorno.
Tomorrow ci invita a prendere in mano il nostro futuro. Essere consapevoli dei cambiamenti sempre più evidenti e delle nostre responsabilità. Per questo motivo l’autore ha pensato a un arazzo che può essere guardato, ma anche toccato. Un esperienza che può essere fatta con gli occhi ma anche le punte delle dita. Un invito a entrare nell’opera, a non essere più solo degli spettatori rispetto ai cambiamenti che coinvolgono tutti.
Il design dell’arazzo è ispirato alle immagini realizzate da Giovanni Hänninen per Arte Sella per documentare il periodo successivo al passaggio della tempesta Vaia, che nel 2018 ha distrutto decine di migliaia di ettari di foreste alpine di conifere nel nord-est italiano. Oltre che ad Arte Sella, il progetto fotografico di Giovanni Hänninen è stato esposto alla XVII Biennale di Architettura di Venezia nel 2021.
L’Arazzo, di 145 x 165cm, è dedicato da Giovanni a sua madre, Jenny Hänninen, textile designer per Torri Lana per oltre 30 anni.

L’intenso dialogo con i grandi architetti che hanno fatto la storia del design italiano è sempre stato un tratto distintivo di Torri Lana e oggi con Arazzi Connections se ne esplorano le potenzialità in modo inedito, attraverso l’oggetto tessile decorativo per eccellenza: l’arazzo.
