Il MOSE, acronimo di Modulo sperimentale elettromeccanico, è un sistema di dighe mobili finalizzato alla difesa della città di Venezia e della sua laguna dal fenomeno dell’acqua alta. Il MOSE è formato da quattro barriere collocate alle bocche di porto della laguna di Venezia composte complessivamente da settantotto paratoie mobili tra loro indipendenti, incernierate al fondale su un lato e azionate dalla variazione della propria galleggiabilità attraverso l’immissione e l’espulsione di acqua e aria.
MOSE, acronym for Modulo sperimentale elettromeccanico (applied electromechanical module), is a system of mobile barriers meant to protect the city of Venice and its lagoon from the “acqua alta” phenomenon. Mose is made of four barriers located at the inlet channels of the Venice lagoon, consisting in total of seventy-eight mobile bulkheads independent from one another, hinged to the seabed on one side and activated by the variation of its buoyancy through the insertion or expulsion of water and air.
