In the middle of Sicily, surrounded by orange fields, CARA di Mineo is a state funded migration Center for Asylum seekers. Formerly a residence for US soldiers of the near Sigonella base, it is the biggest reception center for immigrants in Europe. It hosts up to 4.000 people coming from Africa, Middle-East and Asia. The Senegalese community is the second most numerous one.
Asylum seekers stay in this center from 6 to 12 months.

Precedentemente usato come alloggio per i soldati americani delle vicina base di Sigonella, è il più grande centro di accoglienza d’Europa. Può ospitare fino a 4.000 persone, provenienti da Africa, Medio Oriente e Asia. La comunità senegalese è la seconda più numerosa.
I richiedenti asilo rimangono nel centro dai sei ai dodici mesi.
