I teatri storici del Polesine

The Polesine region was a land of theaters. More than fifty theaters were in business through the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and almost all of them were devoted to music and Bel Canto, a very surprising number considering the situation of those lands at the time. In order to build and keep these theaters in business many citizens would tax themselves, then some financial troubles and the rise of cinema marked their downfall. Then, in the last few yers a rebirth, with restorations and the resumption of activities.
